Hello, we are Scott and Chris, and we run a small printing and embroidery shop called Balcony Shirts in Uxbridge, West London. Like all small shops that are not selling essential items, we've been required to close, so we packed up and went home. And that's where we've been for a month.
Every now and then we need to come to the shop to fire up and oil the machines to keep them running smoothly. So, a couple of weeks ago, just to amuse ourselves, we made our children "Home School - Class of 2020" sweatshirts. We sent a couple of pictures to our friends and they ALL wanted some for their kids, too.
This gave us an idea. We could go into work (Scott downstairs, and Chris upstairs), sell, produce and send these out. We could raise some (much needed) funds to try to keep our shop going, AND raise some money for good causes.
Last year, at Balcony Shirts, we raised around £40,000 for good causes.
For the last couple of weeks we've been building this website and putting in place a system where we can produce these items, whilst adhering to social distancing requirements.
We are going to donate £5 from every sweatshirt and hoodie sold, and £3 from every T-shirt sold to Shelter - a registered charity that campaigns to end homelessness and bad housing in England and Scotland.
We want to make clear, we will also be making money on these items, to try to support us over this time and hopefully keep us going.
Thank you, take care, and stay safe!
Scott and Chris. X
